@jextxadore The wines. I can see how your stuff would be interesting to lots of people, and more when summarised in articles and the like. But I do know how early your project is. :)
@jextxadore Do the databases already exist, either in the public domain or by subscription? (I won't be much help with this.)
Slowly working on normalising my tasting notes to the greatest extent possible. The only thing that's giving me real trouble: the "region" column. Because I would need a Dewey Decimal-style list of every wine appellation in existence to make that happen — to be precise, that would involve going down to the individual vineyard level of detail.
So one entry would be something like: Europe.Germany.Mosel.Bernkastel-Kues.Wehlen.Sonnenuhr
.
The next entry might be: Europe.Germany.Mosel.Bernkastel-Kues.Zeltingen.Sonnenuhr
Very complicated.
I've spent more time organising bookmarks [bazbt3.10centuries.org] than being sociable for the past few days. It's great fun! :)
@jws I was going to mention what usually happens in an enforced absence: thinking time or the subconscious brings revelations and, er… stuff. But I though it best not to bother. You'd better deliver though. ;)
// @larand
@larand I read about that, yeah, and the failed ycombinator funding thing a year ago, but I'm more than happy with the tagging. Sure the full-text thing'll be nice, when it arrives here. ;)
Here's the IFTTT Pinboard-to-Twitter applet I mentioned; not an article at all, sheesh! ;)
@larand I love the dot tags (in addition to private bookmarks.) I read an article1 mentioning an IFTTT integration example using dot tags to indicate content for posting to Twitter. Ingenious.
No I didn't send to Pinboard!
@larand It appears[1337. Without me knowing the slightest bit about the content of the error message. ;)] the server is indeed full. :)
In other news, I've had a whale of a time tagging bookmarks since signing up to the service. I've a long way to go, but I'm thankful for your recommendation.
