I too wish Windows Phone had succeeded. I was so looking forward to the integration of phone and desktop apps. And then my phone, previously top end, was deemed inadequate. And then… yeah.

When will the Ubuntu convergence phones appear? may be the man to answer that, has his his finger on that particular pulse, is often talked about as if he's not here. :)

Square, thanks!

If I could justify the cost I'd jump back to Apple in an instant. The 5, my only iPhone, is the only phone in a long while I've cared enough about to not drop it down the toilet. 2 years of mostly fantastic apps and reliability compared to sub-prime Android variants.

But for now I'm stuck with a year-old device hamstrung by OS updates; that not even a hard reset can cure.

Religion? It's more important than that for most these days. Tangible, tactile, other things beginning with T, but yeah…

(Baz takes a deep breath, sings an updated version of a classic)

"Little boxes, little boxes, and they're all made out of ticky tacky, er… all made from Samsung bits." :D

Good points all.

I recognise people have different priorities and budgets than mine*, am also in the unfortunate position of having suboptimal experience within my current headphones. They can sound wonderful, but more frequently are 'muddy'.

As I mentioned over there, well, expanding a bit, Ruby dog chewed the cables of 3 sets of mine and my daughters. They now know where Ruby cannot reach and, as I'm blasé about such things, I got the expensive ones. ≈$70 expensive. :)

Knowing a tiny amount of Apple's design ethos, towards clean lines, the move away from legacy holes was inevitable. A shame it's not just headphones though, isn't there a payment device reliant on the socket?

*Pitifully inadequate for my desires.

Grrr… ;)

And on that note, it's time for bed. Nighty-morning.

Oops, I really must try and curb my flippant approach. And thanks. (bows)

Bloody hell, that's…

Good question. I'll need 2 pencils and a hankie to find out, I reckon. :)

Dependent on the time of day or the prevailing wind*, so do I. Moving between hope and what I believe is a mercilessly objective view of an imagined dystipian-lite future, I tend towards the negative, a cynical 'the best, it's all behind us'.

Thanks. :)

*Carried along by whatever I've read or heard most recently, and trying to not think of that post-nuclear-apocalyptic film.

@bascule_rascule I am indeed here, right now. I'm intending to be here again, but sporadically. :)
