I buy flowers and cards locally, use the local pharmacy in preference to the chains, local shops for things like the girls shoes, and my next purchase of reading glasses is likely to be local too… But that pesky mousetrap thing often precludes deeper engagement/searching for stuff. (Mutters about economies of scale without much knowledge of.) ;)

@hazardwarning @phoneboy @kdfrawg I'm making use of Amazon Prime Now. Though I'm outside the 'within 1 hour' delivery radius I've had a few deliveries well under 2 hours after placing the order. That includes groceries, frozen food, booze, electronics (including an Echo Dot!) The food prices are identical to our most often-used supermarket, Morrisons. In fact, Amazon carries sauces that we can't buy in out local shop!
Amazon may be undercutting small retailers, paying peanuts for labour, but there's no arguing with the convenience!

@hazardwarning We've been lucky* in that we've only been doing this simce September. The demands of my wife's night shifts and idiotic hours changes by management pushed us into this.
One day we'll look back and laugh. Assuming the straightjackets let us. :}

@matigo I need to wait until payday; I was distracted, pressed the wrong button paying for my oldest daughter's school lunches* until Christmas, paid instead until sometime in May 2017. What an arse! :}
*I'll have to contact the school and ask if they can make adjustments, but still, what an arse!
